"A Walk at the Zoo" has been our signature fundraising event since 2005, helping us continue our mission to provide temporary financial assistance to breast cancer patients throughout Southeast Michigan. Our fundraising goal this year is $250,000 and we need your help to get us there!
"A Walk at the Zoo" has been reimagined as “A Wild Time at the Detroit Zoo” to better reflect the variety of family-friendly activities available for all participants. It’s now more than just a walk with activities for the entire family and all age groups and abilities.
Change brings a lot of questions, and the biggest question is will it be easier to register this year? The answer is YES! We have looked into a number of options that are not only user-friendly, but also give you the option to register your entire family in one family. Team leaders will find useful tools to help them track registrations, monitor fundraising, and communicate with their team members.

We need volunteers to fill a number of positions, from the planning committee and set-up to registration and raffle ticket sales. This is a great opportunity for students to earn community service hours!

The show must go on! Rain or snow, we’ll be there.
I am unable to attend. Can I have my registration refunded?

Do I have to fundraise?
No, fundraising is not mandatory for participation in A Wild Time at the Detroit Zoo. This is a fundraiser, however, and many teams set fundraising goals. It’s as easy as sharing the information with your friends, family and co-workers and asking them to sponsor you. When they donate, they can indicate your name or team name on the printable mail-in donation form, or they can find your name in the drop-down menu on the donation site. All donations designated to an individual or team will count toward total fundraising goals.
What are the fundraising challenges?
We recognize the top 3 fundraising individuals and teams, and the top recruiting team (most members) during the Opening Ceremony.
Is my registration tax-deductible?
Yes, your registration is tax-deductible in the amount it exceeds the fair market value of your ticket into the Zoo ($10/each).
Will my service animal be able to accompany me in the Zoo?
The Detroit Zoological Society strives to provide a welcoming environment for a diverse audience on both campuses. If you plan to arrive with a service animal at the Detroit Zoo or Belle Isle Nature Center, please note that upon arrival, a member of the Park Safety team will welcome you and ensure that your service animal is qualified under the current American Disability Act guidelines. Then you will be issued a bandana to indicate that your service animal has been approved and is allowed on grounds.
Where should I park my car?
