Why do we walk?

WILD TIME AT THE ZOO WALK, MAY 21, 2022

WHY DO WE WALK?

... Because the need is greater than ever.

We are experiencing a substantial increase in applications for assistance. Last year we served 114 people and distributed the fourth-highest dollar amount of grants in our history! Our goal is to help at least 150 applicants in 2022. By walking you help us raise awareness and funds. And so, we walk . . .

The COVID-19 pandemic has confronted us with new challenges. A serious result of COVID-19 is that screenings and some treatments were delayed. Many people postponed or could not afford testing and treatment. Greater numbers of patients being diagnosed at advanced stages. This is an outcome nobody saw coming. And so, we walk . . .

… Because you have been there for us.

Above all our annual Wild Time at the Zoo is a celebration of our community:

·        those we have helped,

·        breast cancer survivors, their families, and friends,

·        those we have lost but are with us in spirit,

·        everyone who has donated or raised funds throughout the years, and

·        our volunteers and local business sponsors and donors,

·        And so, we walk . . .

… Because it’s a way to thank you.

Our Zoo Committee works tirelessly to engage you and provide a memorable experience. We’ve moved the date to increase the odds of good weather and kept the popular presentations, basket raffle, and awards for top fundraising teams and individuals. This year we are introducing a scavenger hunt and a Bloody Mary/Mimosa cash bar. We will have a photographer on site and are live streaming on Facebook Live.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, May 21. There is no limitation to the number of attendees and no timed entries this year. Everyone MUST enter the Zoo BEFORE 9 A.M. Your early registration helps us plan, so, please register yourself and your team soon. (https://shadesofpink.securesweet.com/)
