Happy New Year! And thank you!!

We look to 2022 with great anticipation and reflect on 2021 with gratitude. Thank you to the women who reached out to us for assistance. We were honored to help. And thank you to everyone who gave so generously. Your support helped meet the needs of those diagnosed with breast cancer and experiencing temporary financial distress.  These difficulties arose after they were diagnosed and during treatment, resulting in unexpected bills at a time of great emotional and physical stress.

It takes courage and strength to reach out and ask for help. There are some things in life we are not meant to face alone. We encourage you to reach out to us if you find yourself in this situation. Please, share this post if you know someone recently diagnosed with breast cancer who needs financial assistance. This act of kindness can make a world of difference to someone struggling because of a breast cancer diagnosis.

This is why we were founded. We are local, serving eight counties in southeast Michigan. Eligibility is based on the client’s needs. It isn’t based on insurance coverage or income level. And we have a streamlined application process that usually takes just 2-4 business days for approval once the application is received. Reach out to your oncology nurse navigator or social worker for help connecting with us (or go to www.shadesofpinkfoundation.org/assistance for more info).

As we head into 2022, we are ready to accept applications. Also, we are expanding our partnerships with more organizations and local donors to increase the amount of available funds. In 2021, we gave 114 grants to clients, the highest number since 2018. Our 2022 goal is to help more applicants, and our client services committee and client services coordinator are here to help.

We are humbled and honored to be here for those in southeast Michigan who need us. Our wish is to help those recently diagnosed with breast cancer find peace of mind and relief from financial distress. That allows them to concentrate on treatment and healing.

Together we will make 2022 a better year for family members, friends and neighbors struggling because of a breast cancer diagnosis.

Wishing you a peaceful New Year filled with optimism!
