Meet the Board Member: Rebecca Aughton
I’ve had the privilege of knowing many breast cancer survivors—both customers and women in my own family—and I’ve seen firsthand the challenges they face during treatment. Shades of Pink’s mission deeply resonates with me because they are rooted right here in Southeast Michigan, ensuring the funds they raise directly support local individuals in need. Their grants make a real difference, helping with daily living expenses during such a difficult time. I also admire their commitment to keeping overhead low through a volunteer-driven board, allowing the majority of what they raise to go directly to those they serve. I’m thrilled to join this incredible organization and help spread the word about their life-changing work.
Rebecca grew up in the Highland-Milford area, where her love for creativity and business first took root. After earning a BA in Merchandising with a minor in Marketing from Western Michigan University in 1983, she embarked on an exciting career journey that began with Chanel in Washington, DC. Starting in the cosmetics division, Rebecca quickly transitioned to the Ready-to-Wear division, where she helped launch the DC Chanel Boutique as part of the management team.
Her retail adventure continued with Hugo Boss stores in DC, where she thrived in building successful teams and driving results. Rebecca later joined Estée Lauder as an Account Executive in Pennsylvania, eventually moving to New York City to lead their Lord & Taylor account nationwide. Her expertise then took her to Stirling Brands, where she championed the growth of beloved British lingerie brands like Elomi, Fantasie, Freya, and Goddess across the U.S.
Ultimately, the pull of home and family brought Rebecca back to Detroit, where she turned her vast experience into her passion project, founding Bravo intimates in 2001. Over the years, Bravo intimates has grown into a trusted destination for bra fittings and education, helping women feel confident and supported. In 2024, Rebecca expanded her vision by acquiring Exelnt Designs Custom Swimwear, creating Bravo intimates & Custom Swimwear, a unique blend of intimate apparel and custom swimwear.
Though her career is filled with milestones, Rebecca’s greatest joy came at 45 when she became a mother to her daughter.
