Pamela R. Benitez, MD, Co-Founder
General Surgeon, Corewell Health
Dr. Benitez is a general surgeon with a busy practice now focusing exclusively on diseases of the breast and breast cancer.
Her private practice is at Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, where she is also active in research & medical education.
Born in Maryland, raised in Missouri and New York, Dr. Benitez received her B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating with academic honors; her medical school degree from Albany Medical College of Union University in Albany, New York where she was elected to the prestigious national academic Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society; and completed her surgical residency at the University of Michigan. Her faculty appointments have been at Wayne State University and currently at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine where she chairs the AOA Honor Medical Society Committee.
In her work with patients and families with breast cancer, Dr. Benitez became aware of the financial stress that this diagnosis incurred. She, along with Suzanne Krueger, co-founded SOPF with a mission focused on easing the financial burden that patients experience. In 2019, she was honored as a Michiganian of the Year for her work with SOPF and extensive community service.
